Ipad Gen 1 Dock Problem

Hi guys,

Here is my problem. All of a sudden my gen 1 ipad will not connect to itunes or charge (via usb or wall adapter). I've checked the cable and that is working fine.

What is interesting is this. I shut down the ipad, plug in the dock connecter to the ipad then the usb into the computer and that forces the ipad on. That tells me that there is nothing wrong with the dock assembly or the cable, otherwise that wouldn't force the ipad on. I am running 5.1.1, itunes 10.5....

Can you guys please help me? I want to get my ipad working aginan.

Thanks so much!!

Hi agian,

So that does NOT solve the problem.

When I plug the iPad into the provided power charger it does not charge, it does not say "not charging", it does not show the battery image. Nothing happens.

When I plug the iPad into my computer nothing happens. Nothing changes nothing.

Now, when I have the iPad powered off. I plug in my cable to the dock on the iPad, nothing happens. I then plug that into my computer and the iPad turns ON.

I only have 20% power left. What can be the cuase of this? I have made no changes to my laptop since I was last able to connect and I have made no updates to the iPad since I was last able to connect. One second it works and then the next day it doesn't.

I would prefer not to have $600+ paper weight. Can someone please explain what is going on or how to fix it?
