I'm having the same problem post-14.3.2 update. Does anyone know of an Apple Script that would automate emptying the Trash when it contains the Recovered files folder with the MerpAD Office365 file inside?

I couldn't figure out a way to do it using Automator. But there should be a way to create a Script that would open the Trash. Then, if it contained a Recovered files folder, open that folder. Then if the MerpAD Office365 file is inside the folder, emptying of the Trash would be triggered.

Better yet would be a script that automatically triggered chain of events whenever you close an Office 2011 app. But I'd settle for the simpler script.

I'm no script expert, so I can't help you there. However...

...I am perplexed why you (and others) are having a problem with a "MerpAD Office365" file in the Trash in the first place. I actually AM an Office 365 subscriber and have never had a problem with Office writing any temp files to the Trash. If I were you - and others - I would take the problem to the MS Office for Mac forums - http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/mac - and find a real solution.

I'm NOT an Office 365 subscriber. Don't even know what it is. I use Word and Excel in Office 2011. The "MerpAD Office 365" file shows up in a "Recovered File" folder in my Trash after each time I use Word or Excel. I've already read that Microsoft isn't responding to complaints about this glitch in Office 2011 because they're not really interested in Mac support. In any case, I don't see Microsoft being able to give me the Apple Script I want.

Did you ask your question in the MS forums? "Office 365" is simply a subscription scheme that allows a user to run up to five copies of Office for Mac 2011 or Office for Windows 2013 for a period of one year. And then you pay $99 the next year as well, ad nauseum.

But I've no idea, as I said, why you and others, having nothing to do with Office 365, would get those recovered files... maybe someone from MS would know.

I found that if you disable Office error reporting the recovered files folder will stop to appear in the trash at each start. Here's the procedure:

1. Open application Office error reporting, the application is located in this folder

/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/MERP2.0

2. Go in preferences

3. Uncheck enable office error reporting

Trash can, Recovered files help.
