iPad not connecting with Nokia BH-503 bluetooth stereo headset.

I have an iPad, an ASUS laptop, a pair of Jembee bluetooth sterreo speakers and a Nokia BH-503 bluetooth stereo headphones. On the first day that I purchased the Nokia bluetooth headphones, I followed the instructions in the instruction manual and charged the headset and switched it on. The set connected with the iPad automatically and I to listened to some music for nearly an hour and then switched it off. The next day when I switched on the headset, it did not connect to the iPad though the name of the headset, Nokia BH 503, was listed in the list of devices discoverable. When I tried to connect it manually I got a message asking me to see that the device was switched on and that it was within range. Though I tried to connect the headset to the iPad a number of times I kept getting the same message. I then tried to connect it to the laptop, the connection was establised seamlessly and I was able to listen to the music that was available in the laptop. The iPad also connects effortlessly to the laptop. But the headset persistently refuses to connect with the iPad. I can not understand why this is happening. There was one thing that I noticed when I connected the headset to the laptop. The connection had to be done manually by using the "add device" feature in the Control Panel and after the device was located Windows took a few seconds to install some drivers before connecting with the headphone. I am using Windows 8 on the laptop. Does that mean that some drivers have to be installed in the iPad before it will connect with the device? If so, then how did it connect in the first instance? Perplexing. Well, that is my problem and I'd be very grateful if anybody can extricate me out of my predicament. Thanking you.

1. Make sure your laptop is off so that it doesn't confuse your headset when it try to pair with iPad

2. Make sure headset is in discoverable mode

3. Setting>Bluetooth>Turn on Bluetooth

4. Once headset is detected, select and pairing should start

Note: the headset normally can only pair with X number of devices; you may have to clear it memory

Sorry your advice did not help. You have got the problem wrong. My headset connects with the laptop, my iPad connects with the laptop. Now I have added a plug and play bluetooth dongle to my PC (Windowsw Xp) and it connects with the laptop and the iPad. It is my Nokia BH 503 stereo headset that is not connecting with the iPad. It also is not connecting with my PC. When I carried out an add device procedure on my PC, the name Nokia BH 503 flashed for a fraction of a second on the screen and then my laptop device was listed. The irony of it is that the headset is listed in the iPad as a discovered device and it did connect once.. But if I try to connect I get a message saying "Check whether the device is turned on and within range". The device was turned on and it was placed just next to the iPad and the PC. Both of them did not connect with the headset.

It is very frustrating. I have put up my problem on the Nokia discussion board but so far there is no reply. I fail to understand why the manufacturers of the device are not helping me out but have asked me to put up my problem to the discussion board.

Thank you for your kind advice. Now that I have restated my problem with the latest development of the headset not connecting with the PC, perhaps you can help me out.

Thanks once again

Regards,

After pairing the head set with too many devices I had the same problem. For some reason it seems that the head set BH-503 can only pair with limited number of devices.

I tried this it worked:

1. Hard reset BH 503. Check this link for advice on how to hard reset BH503 http://www.hard-reset.com/nokia-bh-503-hard-reset.html

2. In the IPad Bluetooth set up menue, delete the device BH 503 by clicking on "forget this device"

3. then pair the BH 503 head set again with the IPad.
