Connect iphone to apple tv

I have an Iphone 4 and an AppleTV-box and smart TV with HDMI. I cannot connet the phone to the SmartTV

When I double click on the home button and drag to the left I can see the sign for AppleTV but although click on AppleTV and get it marked

there is no connection

I also have an Ipad and it works fine and I get connection between Ipad the SmartTV!?
