i want to use my ipad as a musical instrument in garageband

I just bought the latest Imac desk top computer and wish to use the the ipad 2 (Garageband instruments) as a master keyboard/controller. In other words I want to use the keyboards/drums/guitars available on the ipad to input to GarageBand on the imac. How is this done?

Ciao and thankyou, Mitch

GarageBand for iPad help - http://help.apple.com/garageband/ipad/1.0/index.html.

Also try the "Apple Training Series" Books. The books have written "how to's" as well as a video DVD, that helps you learn Apple applications for your iPad at your own pace. You can find out info. about this book at - http://www.peachpit.com/search/index.aspx?query=iPad.

plug the headphone jack of the iPad into the line-IN jack on the iMac, and set the iMac to record from the line-IN:

(Let the page FULLY load. The link to your answer is at the top of your screen)

create a New Basic Track in GB on the Mac; hit record and start playing the iPad instruments.

okay, so, i have the "Apogee One", which will allow me to record into garage band as an audio track, but i was hopping to use the Ipad as a "MIDI" controller/keyboard input. The difference being that im sure when I record to Garagebadn on the Imac it will record it as one track and i would not have any control of the "events". Im sure there must be a way, I cant believe that apple would not allow you to use the ipad as a controller for garageband on the imac. It would be way more intuitive than using a qwerty keyboard as an instrument. So, again, is there any kind of connection that would allow the two programs to communicate to each other?; Garageband on both the Imac and the Ipad?

Your comment on using the aux in certainly helped but i need to control the imac instruments from the ipad.

🙂 Possible?
