I would like to suspend notifications for software updates. Anyone a clue how to do it? Unchecking the search for updates in system preferences seems not to help here..

It is generally not recommended to turn off updates.

 

You can stop notification by upper right notification center. Pull down a bit further to expose on/off

 

or gear icon very bottom of Notification panel.

 

Why not just update and get it over with.
