Is iCloud Required to Use Numbers?

I don't use iCloud at all for anything; nor do I intend to. I do have a need for a good spreadsheet program, however, so I'm wondering if Numbers relies on iCloud to store Numbers documents and transfer them to a computer. IOW, can I somehow get a numbers document onto my Mac without using iCloud? Can documents created with the iOS version of Numbers be opened with Numbers for Mac?
