Is it possible to go from Facetime mode to voice-only?
Once I have started a Facetime call with someone on my iPhone, is it possible to go back to voice-only mode?

Check the Facetime article, and especially the links to facetime guide for your individual device.
Thanks Ralph, I did just read that article, but it only talks about connecting to Facetime. I haven't found anything about disconnecting during a call. I have a feeling it's not possible - you just have to hang up and call them back in voice-only mode.

Correct, that's your only option, as the original call(FaceTime) was not processed through your carrier's system.
If you touch End at the bottom of thw screen it will terminate the call...trying to remember without making a call if there is another icon that can be used to switch FaceTime off, but don't remember right now.
