Time Machine back ups are in the trash.

I had a massive brain cramp today. I thought I was throwing my Lightroom 3 back ups in the trash, but what I really did was throw a number of Time Machine back ups in the trash. Now they are stuck in the trash and I don't know how to correct the problem. I am currently running 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro. Can anyone help me out of this fix?
