Merging Apple ID's

How do you merge an old Apple ID with a new one? I have an old computer with all of my itunes music from previous apple ID. I purchased a New PC, but have an ipad 3 and iphone 4S that are synced with my new apple ID. I would like to merge my old apple ID with my new one so I can reclaim all my previous downloads.

That would be convenient but as it turns out Apple IDs cannot be merged.
