Help, Slow Internet Connection

I have a Mac Mini and 2 apple laptops. Both laptops connect well and fast to the internet. Recently, the Mac Mini is way too slow connecting to the internet. It used to be fine connection before.

I looked on the discussion board for any tips, but did not find anything.

I am using Snow Leopard and get the following info from Option/clicking on the wireless signal:

PHY Mode: 802.11g

BSSID: 68:7f:74:a3:c7:e5

Channel: 1 (2.4 GHz)

Security: WPA2 Personal

RSSI: -71 (or -77)

Transmit Rate: 18

Any tips?

The transmit rate is too low for the PHY mode. It should be around 54. Either you have interference or something is wrong internally, such as a loose antenna connector.

Linc, I'll looked into the antenna.

After I replaced the internal battery in the Mac Mini the problem with slow internet connection, though not right away. I'll check that the connection is ok and comment back.

Linc,

Before I messed with the antenna, the Intenet connection went back to normal. From the information about the wireless signal I posted earlier, the only difference is that Channel is 11 instead of 1.

Questions:

- What does channel mean or measures?

- What could be a reason for the channel number to change?

Channels are subdivisions of the frequency band. The WAP can change them automatically to reduce interference.
