Is it posible to have 8 1/2 hours of battery life on the 15-inch Macbook Pro Retina?

When I click on the battery icon the time remaining at 99% battery it says 8 1/2 hours of battery left, when in the tech specs apple says up to 7 hours. Is it possible, or is my macbook reading the battery wrong?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

It is overly optimistic. Any normal use is going to be less.


Time is not linear in computer projections.
