My iphone5 will not charge ! I bought a new charger recently after my old one stopped working, the guy said because the wire got scrunched but i had recieved it like that, and now even the new one won't charge properly.

I recieved my iphone in October right after is what released. It worked beautifully until recently in earlier January I realized that my phone charger would only charge it in certain positions and it had to be held there. Then one day it stopped charging all together, I took the charger to the Sprint store and the guy explained that its because the charger got scrunched up to the top and I had to purchase a new one for $30. I have been using the charger for the past 2 weeks and it has been working fine. Now it won't charge unless I hold it in certain postions again!. I don't know if it's the phone or simply the chargers. My phone is in perfect condiiton, protected and all and so is the new charger.. someone give me advice please. I am so desperate ..

no , the first one did , but the new one i got is in perfect condition , its only about 2 weeks old :/

I'm so sorry , the cable was scrunched up , not the adapter .. that was the old charger though, I have a brand new one that is in perfect conditon , adapter and cord..

Unless they thought you broke it they should not have charged you for the cable. If you have no Apple Store near you call AppleCare and send it in for service.

I also received my phone in October after the release and my second charger just broke. I had to buy a second one because the first charger became scrunched up & wouldn't charge my phone and now the second charger I bought is scrunched up & won't charge my phone. I don't understand how it scrunches up because it literally f***ing sits in the outlet all day. There is clearly a problem with these chargers. I know this doesn't answer your question, but I just wanted to let you know that I am having the SAME exact issue and you are not alone. Tomorrow I am getting rid of my iPhone because the money I put out is NOT worth it.

This is the best picture I can take because I used photobooth on the mac book pro to take this and it automatically flashes, but if you can see that the area near where it goes into the phone is scrunched up. It keeps happening to me and I do not bring my phone charger anywhere.

That works, but that is not the charger which is why I was confuse, that is the synching/charging cable, in this case a Lightning cable.

You didn't need to buy either of them they care covered by your warranty. If you have an Apple Store near you make a Genius Bar appointment and get them replaced under warranty.

Neither of mine have done that but I don't hand it by that section of the cable ever.

When I went to the apple store the first time and showed them my first charger that looked like this, they said I had to pay for it and it wasn't covered under my warrenty. I'll go back tomorrow and just try to see if maybe this time the warrenty will cover it. Thanks for the help.

Just a heads up. If the next lightning cable you get starts getting scrunched up at the end. Just wrap it in electrical tape to keep it straight. Will it look nice? No. But it will keep the cord from bending back and forth at the end which breaks the wires on the inside.
