Why won't iTunes recognize my iPhone 4s?

Downloaded latest version of iTunes and now it won't recognize my iPhone. It have done what all other threads suggest: restarted phone, restarted computer, fully charged phone, uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes, did msconfig thing....nothing! iTunes recognized my iPhone just fine before I updated it, had to update to download the new software for phone. And now my computer won't even charge my iPhone; however, I have noticed (because of how many times I have had to do this) every time I restart my computer, while it is shutting down and restarting it starts to charge my phone but as soon as I put my password in and my desktop loads....no charge..... I am beyond frustrated. (if there was an Apple store near me, this phone would be going through their window). I'm running a PC with Windows 7.....

Please help me!

why did my phone work with iTunes 5 minutes before I downloaded the new version, and now it doesn't. I am forced to update software that was working just fine in order to update my phone's software and now nothing works. This makes no sense to me. I'm just really frustrated.

If you tried all the steps in the linked article, might be a problem with the dock connector. Try gently brushing it with a dry, clean toothbrush and/or blowing it with a can of compressed air. Also look for bent pins that may be shorting out.

Also, unless you followed this guide when you uninstalled iTunes: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923, uninstalling all components, and in the specified order, it may not have been successful and you might want to try again.

In iTunes 11 make sure your sidebar is open. Click View then Show sidebar. I thought iTunes wasn't seeing my iPhone but it was. Hope this helps!!!

I'm having this same problem. Did you ever find a solution Robyn?

I tried all the recommendations with AMDS and uninstalling itunes and then reinstalling it. Is there a way to install an older version of itunes that works?

What was I thinking in upgrading an Apple product? There is always some issue.

The same thing happened to me. Before I updated the software everything was working fine and now I cannot sync new music. iTunes won't recognize my device at all. I have tried everything and nothing has fixed it.
