How to disable Facebook notification center sounds?

I want to know this too, I think it has to do with being physically on facebook though. I think the sound may come from that....

Well it is interesting conundrum. I would try removing FBook from the NCenter and add it back in.

The sound is from Facebook, I just got a notification without a sound because facebook wasn't open in safari.

I think this is a facebook thing and not on your computer.

And you just solved the riddle of how to turn it off!!

Why I didn't think, after I knew it was facebook making the sound, to turn it off in facebook, I don't know. 😝

I didn't have this trouble until I upgraded to El Capitan. I look at System Preferences/Notifications and "Facebook" is not listed. When I explicitly look at Notifications by clicking on the top-right of my screen, I don't see Facebook notifications. I just see them popping up over my work. Nothing else pops up that way. I don't want those pop-ups that I have to close.

Check under System Preferences -> Extensions. I had a mention of Facebook in there, removed it and (fingers crossed) I think they're gone now.
