I can't remove iTunes

Hi dear, when I move the iTunes to trash, it tells me "“iTunes.app” can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by Mac OS X."

What can I do?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.1)

Why do you want to delete iTunes? Frankly, I'm always leery of the idea of deleting pre-installed apps that are required by the OS. In the end, you could end up doing more harm than good. If you don't want to use iTunes, I'd suggest just, politely, ignoring it. There's no harm to keeping it installed on your system. Just my 2 cents.
