Importing with canon ZR100

I am trying to import into iMovie with my Canon ZR100 miniDV camcorder. I think part of the problem is that my help file seems to be giving me info on iMovie HD 6 and I am using iMovie 4. I can control the camcorder from iMovie fine and I can see the movie and hear audio. The problem is that the help file says that there should be an import button above the play button in iMovie and there is nothing there in my app and I can't find or see anything obvious that would be for importing. Maybe someone can just direct me to some sort of manual for iMovie 4 or if you do have some insight that would be great.

I do have it in the camera mode and I don't see an import button above the play button. Thanks for the input though.

Here is a screenshot of iMovie as it is playing a movie directly from my camcorder. As you guys can see there is no import button. I just don't know what I am doing wrong. maybe it is a setting on my camera or something. Any insight would be helpful.

I see it, but I can hardly believe it.

Try deleting iMovie's prefs file: com.apple.imovie3.plist
(Yes, that's the name for both iMovie 3 and 4).

I quote QuickTimeKirk:
”Open the Audio MIDI Setup application (Utilities folder).
Try changing the settings to 44100Hz (CD Quality) or to 48000Hz (typical of the iMovie formats).
Others call this the GarageBand fix. Opening GB also resets the Audio MIDI Setup.”

Do you have both versions installed?

BTW, I have that Canon ZR100 and it works fine for me on iMovie 5 and now version 6.

No I don't have both installed and I should correct what I said earlier. It was just the apple website that seemed to only give me info on iMovie HD 6.

Your image is missing the Play and Import buttons...

You might try re-installing iMovie. Go to HD/Library/Receipts/iMovie.pkg and delete it and then empty Trash. This will allow you to re-install. Then do a custom install from iLife '04.

I don't have 10.3.9 or iLife '04 installed, so I'm guessing on the exact nature of the file name and location, but I think I'm right.

No. I don't have a copy of the software. (the computer store I purchased it from didn't supply me with it) So I am waiting till I have a little spare cash to go and pick it up. One other note also is that the play button flickers on and off and was flickering off in the screen capture I posted.

The software may be on the OS X disc if iLife was factory installed...

Yea, thats just it. I bought my computer used and the store didn't supply a copy of the operating system.

Yikes! Go back and get the discs now.
Otherwise you are a software pirate.
Or to put it another way: The store stole the software you paid for.

You should also get the original discs for any software that was installed (such as iLife).
