Progress monitoring iBook

I've created an iBook using iBooks Author for children wishing to learn how to sail. On top, I've created a second one which lists the skills a student must develop per chapter of the syllabus book. This second book is to be used by the instructor or the parent to monitor the students progress and focus on the skills not yet acquired.

My initial thought was to have this second book for free to download and then to be printable. Thus, the instructor could put a signature next to skill acquired on the paper copy of the book. I then found out that printing is not suppported and that there is no other interactive feature available that the coach can put a signature on the ipad.

As a last resort solution I thought of uploading to iTunes and then people could save the 7 pages of the book as pictures and print those but the reviewers would not allow the "signature" spaces as they consider them unsupported feature.

I then had to upload it without those, just declaring the list of skills the sudent has to have when taking a sailing lessons course.

Does anyone have an idea on how to implement my idea using the available features of the iBooks? Is there any kind of way I can deliver a book which acts like a performance monitoring tool or resembles this functionality?
