    I don't even have an Exchange account, i don't think that it has something to do with it. I even turned off iCloud backups.

    The article refers to the first calendar problem that occurred back in October 2012 with iOS 6.0 when Microsoft told operators of Exchange systems to not have their iPhone users upgrade to 6 due to issues with calendar invitations. There have been problems between Exchange and mobile phones since thery first had Exchange compatibility. Problems previous to iOS 6 usually involved a password that got out of sync or sometimes calendar invitations not being received.


    The invitation loop first appeared with iOS 6. The recent update to iOS 6.1 has accelerated the loop and is causing the phone to constantly ping the iPhone. If you have enough iPhone users it will cause a drain on the Exchange servers, hence the warning by Microsoft.


    Any agency I still do work for began having power drainage issues with 6.0, it was not relieved by 6.0.1 or 6.0.2 and has been made worse with 6.1. Previous fixes that I've used and you mentioned, removing the account and replacing it, does not work with this particular issue. I worked with their IT guy and we went through several options. The only one that stops the battery drainage/loop was to not use the Exchange calendar (fortunately there has been no appreciable drain on the Exchange server as only 5 people are using recent iPhones updated to 6; most of the younger employees have switched to Android, which have a different problem). The other option is to live with the battery drain or get a battery case, which still won't last a whole day. There is a third option that stops the battery drainage and allows use of the calendar but it cannot be discussed here.


    The article is not misleading and is one of many out there describing the problem in the same terms. iPhone users will either have to avoid updating to 6 if they have not already done so, live without their Exchange calendar, live with the battery drain, use a different phone for awhile, use unapproved means and/or wait for a fix from Apple/Microsoft.

    I did the 6.1.1 update and it did not fix my battery drain.  I do not have an Exchange account.  My ipone 4s was fine prior to updating to 6.1 and 6.1.1.  Now my phone is useless.  Today it died at 6 1/2 hours with very light use.

    What type of email account do you have?


    AS A TEST ONLY: Backup your iPhone then Restore it as a new phone and don't put any apps back on it for a day and see if it changes the battery usage.

    My o2uk iPhone 4S is now very hot after overnight charging on 6.1.1

    Never experienced this on any firmware since iOS 5 when the device was new, I need to go back to iOS 6.1 ASAP as it was fine for me


    Why can't you just do it right?

    Well, I have 2 Exchange accounts, I have upgraded to 6.1.1, and I do not have any battery drain issues or problems with either Exchange account. So there is some other factor involved. I DID have a problem with the Exchange account of iOS 4.

    You can't go back, but if you read the other messages and links in the message thread you posted to you will be able to fix the problem.

    It would be the best if we can downgrade back to 5.1.1!

    On this release of iOS there was no problem, everything worked fine.

    We are the customers, we pay for the service, not the apple.


    Anyway I have realized that during call, when I changing the volume, the volume indicator is very choppy.

    Another issue is with the automatic brightness, that is choppy too. .

    Lucky you, sitting right now with someone with the calendar problem, his company is larger and is shutting off iOS 6 access.

    I have three iPhone 4S phones, two on 6.1 and one on 6.1.1, all with terrible battery issues. The phones will heat up and start to lose 1% of battery as fast as every 2-4 minutes in standby. This is really awful.


    I have no exchange email on any of the phones. Even so, on two of the phones I have deleted all email accounts (a pop3, gmail, yahoo and icloud) and reinstalled with no improvement. I restored my phone from backup with no improvement. I upgraded my phone to 6.1.1 and it made the issue worse.


    My wife has a second work iPhone, a 5 and it does have Exchange on it and it has no issue. My son has a iPhone 3G and it has no problems.


    Apple needs to fix this. I called them last night and phone support was not aware of the issue, which is frustrating. and doesn't seem possible. They cannot downgrade the phones to 6.0. I have an appointment at the Apple Store in a couple of hours but I am not hopeful.

    Silly miss, Apple. And Enterprise acceptance was just gaining ground.


    My iPhone 4S with 2 Exchange accounts was perfectly fine until 6.1.1. Now I lose 10% battery per hour in standby. Just tried deleteing/re-adding the Exchange accounts. HOPEFULLY this will work.

    Hi.. 6.1.1 does not solve any battery draining or heat issues on 4s model.

    After upgrade to 6.1 this problem started, even upgrade to 6.1.1 does not solve this issue.

    Frustrating to see your phone battery charge 100% and die in 15%.
