My iPhone 4S battery life is terrible, Even with iOS 6.1.1

Hi Apple Users

I'm on my 6th 4S handset since summer 2012! Last night (11/2) I updated my phone with iOS 6.1.1 and the battery life is worse than ever before! All apps are fully closed down, Wifi/Bluetooth are turned off! Screen brightness is down to 18%. I've no e-mail accounts set up! Location services are switched off

I have iphone 4S with 6.1.3 version. My battery life was awful as well. Even when I turned off all funtions that I didn't need to have turned on, it only lasted 1/2 day. Horrible! I told my kids (who have iPods) and they showed me a quick method to turn off functions that are running without me knowing it. When I turned them off, my battery lasted all day. Now, everyone uses their phone differently, but for me- it really helped. Here is what they said:

1) Double click on the home button

2) The bottom of the screen should show some functions/apps that are currently running

3) Hold down one of the buttons for a couple of seconds

4) All of the buttons should shake with a minus sign above them

5) Simply touch all of the minus signs of the applications that you want to turn off- You can still turn them on the regular way. Everytime you turn your phone off, you will have to turn them off again. This does not delete anything- more of a pause. I turn every one of them off so my phone isn't running so many things at the same time, all of the time.

I hope this helps you all as much as it did me.

Good Luck!

I know this is not for everyone, but try restoring your iPhone to factory settings.

I didn't have anything THAT important on my phone, and this battery problem was driving me crazy. Some people say the bug gets backed up too, so when you restore with the latest one you'll still get the problems.

Before restoring, my last charge got 6:34 of standby and 3:47 of usage. Today it got 12:14 of standby and 7:54 of usage.

On both situations my 4S had 50% brightness, auto-brightness off, same type of use, and the screenshots were taken on 1% battery, I just don't know how to post them.

It definitely worked for me, but not everyone is willing to give their iPhone a fresh start. I just hoped the iPhone could get the same battery life my iPad 3 does someday. 3G on, sometimes using wi-fi, it's on 53% with 1 day and 15 hours of standby and 6:21 of usage! :)

I had same problems. Battery rubbish, phone red hot on charging etc. Contacted apple support - tried reset and downloading IOS 6.1.3 again but nothing helped. Told I could buy a new battery but I argued I hadn't paid £500 for something to last only 14 months.

My phone was purchased direct from Apple online 14 months ago so the phone guy advised me to book in to an apple retail store and request to make a claim under european consumer law.

I have been to the apple store today and after listing my problems I have been issued with a new phone free of charge. Hopefully this one will be problem free!

I have had the same problems, plus another problem where the phone just randomly had no service (verizon). went back and forth with them and apple until apple gave me a new phone, as other family members had no problem. the No service problem is rare now, but battery life still awful and phone gets nasty hot. 4S, purchased early this year. I just don't have the time or the patience to persue this any more. if i burn myself, they will hear from my lawyer, otherwise I guess I have to live with it 🙂

If your battery is very hot this may damage your battery lifespan! If your screen dropping brightness while your phone is hot, try to immediately cool it as long as your brightness return. Don't play heavy games while charging your battery! Or you can play but only if battery will shown 100%

P.S. Try to find new battery (new) and replace the battery. Battery must be charged from 0% to 100 at least once per month! If not then the battery will loose her capacity! That's why new phones from Apple may have battery issues. In the store shelf iPhone may lying month or years who knows? That's why ours iPhone having issues with their batteries.
