For the passthrough theme, is there a way to take out the passthrough? More specifically, I want a picture on the main menu screen instead of a picture with a passthrough and want to know if that's possible.

No. You can delete the title text Pass Through Main so the backbround image will not have the title stencil moving across but it will be fuzzy like that portion between the letters in the stencil.
You'll need to pick another theme simple theme that you can replace the background image and get what you want like Parchment:
