Where do you put PDF books from iMac into iPad?

How do you copy PDF books from an iMac to an iPad?

I assume you open the iPad on the iMac's desktop and drop the books into the appropriate older . . . . but what is that folder? (I'm enquiring for someone else, hence I don't know what they will be seeing).

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2), Little knowledge... many opinions.

You can sync them via your Mac's iTunes, the iPad won't mount as a drive on a Mac - an iPad doesn't have a file system like a 'normal' computer, everything has to be stored within an app.

If you want to sync them to the iBooks app on your iPad then you can add PDFs to your Mac's iTunes via File > Add To Library (they will go into the Books part of your library), and you can then sync them by connecting the iPad to your Mac and selecting it on the left-hand sidebar of your Mac's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 on your Mac then you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S), and the using the Books tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select and sync them.

If you want them in a different app then how you get it there will depend upon what the app supports e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc.

Can I join in the discussion ...

Is it possible to do it without using iTunes ? Like getting a USB to the 32 pin connector ?

Thanks

Dropbox, box.net, sugarsync, iCloud, Google Drive, 4Shared, skydrive,... there are many free online storage services offering anywhere from 2Gb-5Gb+ of free storage, and many apps now support almost all of these (GoodReader, just as an example, also supports FTP/SFTP to any server you have storage on).

Just sign up for one, and move files back and forth via online storage.
