iPhone 4S no sound but rings and can get sound with headphones and dock

I am not able to get sound through iPhone speaker except ringer , phone audio and speakerphone.

Also the volume control bar only appears briefly when switching on from vibrate.

Sound worked when docked and with headphones. I also get the beep when using siri
