I'm trying to set up an email on my new IPad. However afetr choosing an acceptable (not already taken name) I get error message:
'Problem Turning on Mail'
There was a problem turning on your mail, try again.
I've tried again but no avail.......
Any ideas world.....?
Do you already have an iCloud account, AppleID? Are you trying to setup the iCloud email address using the iCloud account or are you trying to use a different ID? Try using the established iCloud account.

I have an icloud / Apple ID account already. To set up email on my new IPad i've tapped on mail, this then asks me for Apple ID & password, whemn I submit this I get message to say this iCloud account has already been added...
From Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account... > tap iCloud and you should be able to enter the iCloud account information, should be of the form userid @ me.com or icloud.com unless you have an old mobile me account with mac.com.
Is that where you are starting from or are you trying to start from Mail itself?
I was trying to start from mail itself...... When i go into settings > mail>add account, tap icloud, it prompts me to enter my apple ID. When I enter this it says john.atkins@london.com (my apple ID) is already added.....
Try Settings>iCloud>Mail>On. You will be prompted to setup a free email account in there as well. See if that works for you.
That's kinda where I started getting the problem... message comes up stating 'Problem Turning On Mail'
Any ideas anyone? I think I've gone full circle.

When you setup the account for the me.com or icloud.com mail, and you say you are using an id at london.com, is that your iCloud account? I thought iCloud accounts all had to end in me or icloud dot com. Use the iCloud account instead of the AppleID and see if that doesn't work.
When I go to Mail, Contacts, Calendar, then tap icloud it prompts me for my apple ID. My Apple I.D is the the only thing I've ever used (john.atkins@london.com), i don't have a dot me or cloud dot com account. But when I enter my Apple I.D a message states as follows :
john.atkins@london.com is Already Added
The iCloud account has already been added to your iPad
I've got exactly the same problem. Set up iPad with existing email. Same problem same messeage re icloud.com email. It also will not let me set up my existing email.
Not a good start to my Apple experience.
