my recent iphoto events aren't showing up in the system upload dialog.

I have a few dozen events in iPhoto, but the most recent 17 events do not show up in the system upload dialog (I'm tying to upload photos to a service to get prints made) I am looking in Media > Photos > iPhoto > Events and I see almost all of my events there but not the most recent ones. I have tried restarting iPhoto and I also restarted it holding command option and repared the iPhoto library database. I thought it might be a date issue for the new year but one of the missing albums is in 2012. Any thoughts? I can open the backing files in finder but it is a lot less convinient, and it is weird that all the old events work.
