OS X download failure

So I erased my HD on my Macbook Pro (Late 2011)and now have a huge problem. I can't get the original software that came with the computer nor the OS X Lion to download. It will start downloading then it gives an error saying that it could not download the support files or something like that. Has anyone had this problem and knows how to get this fixed? I have already tried the partition trick and almost everything else I have found on these forums. I don't know much about computers and I have never had a problem like this with any macs I have owned, but I'm really thinking that the HD is bad.
