No iTunes for Linux?

Recently I switched over from Windows to Linux (Ubuntu). However, I have noticed that Apple have not created an iTunes version for Linux and, despite pleas from Linux users, Apple have not yet created one. When will Apple create a version?

Would it work if Apple were to create something similar to Apple TV for iTunes in the form of hardware?

iPod nano, Other OS, Ubuntu 12.10

Apple has not announced any plans to create a version of iTunes for Linux. Whether they will ever do so is something none of us here can say, though with the very small overall marketshare of Linux on the desktop, it seems to me unlikely in the foreseeable future. You can express your interest to Apple here, if you wish:

Sorry, but I have no idea what you mean by this.

Wouldn't it make more sense to use the Mac version of iTunes? I know of no compatibility layer between Mac and Linux. Obviously Wine is a great solution for Windows compatability, but considering that MacOS and Linux are closer together, I would imagine it being both easier and better running to use some kind of compatability layer or emulation Mac-Linux rather than Windows-Linux.

Feel free to set me straight if I'm completely off.
