I got my 18 year old daughter a new ipod touch. I set it up with my apple ID (I have an iphone) thinking she could change it when she got it and can create a new account. It doesn't seem to want to let me do it. I looked on line and it appears that she now has to wait 90 days to get her own account. Is that true? Won't she lose everything she has downloaded if she stays on my account? This is NOT GOOD!

Just what is telling that you have to wait 90 days? For what account?
Per the following you canchange iCloud account associated with and ID for 90 days but you can create and use the ID just not redownload iTunes purchases. See:

This did not help because my daughter needs her own Apple ID. I don't want it to be associated with mine.
