I would like to get my iphone iMessages on my iPad (ios5.1.1) but I can only enter an email address for my message address. How can I enter my iPhone number so I can receive my iMessages?

Are you using the same Apple ID for the 2 devices?
Yes, in fact my iCloud backup works fine between the two units.
