I have been iven an Iphone 3G, after getting it unlocked, I had to do a software update to be able to download apps etc so I finally figured out how to update this but i tnes won't allow me to connect to the update server. Please help.
When I try to download an app (for example Facebook or Ebay) it says 'Update Reuired This app requires iOS4.3.' the software I have just now 4.2.1 (8C148)

4.3 or later is not supported by 3g. Nowadays companies and app developers want their apps to support the new software and hardware capabilities. Such as ios 6, hardware- iphone 3gs,4,4s,5.
Not ALL apps require iOS 4.3 or newer. A significant amount do, but I wouldn't necessarily say the majority. Considering that you cannot get any more software updates, you'll just have to try to find alternatives to apps that require a newer OS.

No. You were given a rather outdated iPhone. Only an iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S or 5 can run a newer version of iOS.
The iPhone 3G cannot be updated beyond iOS 4.2.1.

Well some.
If you go to top 25 or featured scroll down the free apps. After you open it scroll down and you will see what version it supports.
Or search free apps in search bar.

Only newer iphones support newer apps or at least most of them.
Other then that no. Samething happend to me when i had 2nd gen ipod touch.
