I have some pictures i need to print on microsoft word & i have looked everywhere for color settings and i cant seem to find them. My hp deskjet prints color so I think it has something to do with my computer settings
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
In the Print dialog box, look over on the right hand side, under the "Orientation" diagrams.
There is a drop-down box there, with many different choices to explore.
This screen shot has [ Color/Quality ] selected from an HP [laser] Printer driver.
Check to be sure it is not set to Black & White/Grayscale.
And be sure that [√] Print color as Gray is NOT checked.

i have OS X 10.8.2 and the print dialog box does not have those options
If you don't have ANY options there, use the tringle at the right of the Printer_name to expose them.
I don't have your exact printer or Printer Driver either, but that is where you should look for options similar to those.
Or call HP support.
