Deleting Files on Hard Drive

I have a MB Pro of which im currently running Lion 10.8.2. How do you get to the hard drive to see what files are on and possibly delete them? (New to Mac)

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

To navigate through the hard disk and its folders, OS X has got the Finder > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2470

You can access to the Finder pressing the app icon at the left of the Dock; that's Finder icon.

Also, if you want, open  > About this Mac > Storage, to see what's taking up space on the hard disk. Enjoy the Mac
