stuck on same song

Hi all,

I have bought a new shuffle 5th gen. I transferred some songs onto it in itunes. However when I try to use it it will only play one song, i cannot fast fwd or rewind to the next/previous song. Although I can fast fwd within the same track. The voiceover tells me there is more than one track on the shuffle, and I have plugged it into itunes a couple of times and after each time i can play another track. this is incredible frustrating, is there a repeat function on this device? help!
