Migrating iTunes U Public Site to Different Server

Hello,

I was recently tasked with migrating our current iTunes U public site to another server, as the current hardware is a very old 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 Apple XServe running Mac OS X Server 10.4.11 that is in danger of dying.

I unfortunately don't know much about this environment since someone else had taken care of it for years and is no longer employed by my school. Here's what I do know right now:

  • The iTunes U public site is hosted exclusively on this server,
  • We have no other Mac servers in our network,
  • Our server environment is all Windows Server 2008 R2, and
  • iTunes U currently authenticates faculty users via LDAP / Active Directory. Students do not require a login and can access the site anonymously.

Based on this, what kind of migration options would I have with migrating this site to a different environment, and what would I need to do to make this work, or would it be better off to start from scratch, given the age of the current system? If so, what operating environments are supported for the iTunes U Public Site? Is there an option for Apple to host our iTunes U Public Site?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Jason
