Q: memory limits?

Hi.

I have a 2011 iMac 27-inch.

I have 12GB memory installed. (two 2's and two 4's).

I want to upgrade.

Apple is telling me that the max is 16GB. They also told me to go to Crucial for the best prices.

Crucial is telling me I can install 32Gb (four 8's).

Does anyone know if this is true?

It is; Apple's figures aren't updated when higher capacity RAM becomes available.

Officially, Apple says that the Mid 2011 iMac only supports 8 GB of memory (4x2 GB), but you can install up to 32 GB of memory (4x8 GB) on your Mid 2011 iMac.

You can buy the memory in OWC or Crucial (Crucial is cheaper and offers the same compatibility warranty as OWC). If you need help installing the memory, see > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1423?viewlocale=en_US
