Q: Can not read book on computer that was purchased on iPad

Book purchased on iPad, shows downloaded on Mac (Mt. Lion) all software updated. Book can not be opened on this computer. Authorized computer. Tell me I do not have to pay additional fee or upgrade to some other Apple trap.
