Q: Apogee Duet Output Problem

I just purchased and setup a brand new Duet 2. I've configured computer audio, and Logic Pro 9 audio, no problems. Itunes plays fine, and Logic records and plays back fine.

 

Here's the problem - I plug in an instrument (either input) and can see the input meters move, but nothing on the output meters or output sound. Maestro 2 software seems to be configured correctly, inputs are set to 'instrument', mixer faders at 0. Again the Duet is definitely seeing signal on both inputs just fine, just not outputting it!

 

Suggestions?

    UPDATE:

     

    In Logic, I stupidly forgot to have the correct input selected. I now get proper output from the instrument plugged into the Duet.

     

    However, once I close Logic, I lose the instrument. Is this just limitation of the Duet/Maestro setup, or am I missing something?
