Hi!

A friend of mine has a Mac OS X Tiger instalation DVD, with 10.4.5 version.

This version is compatible with Intel processors!

I have a late 2010 Macbook unibody, and was wondering: might it be possible to install that version on my Mac? I really need an 'old' version of the OS, so that I may access a few interactive DVD's I have that doesn't work on anything beyond 10.5...

Is it possible to install that intel version on such a early Mac?

Thnak you for any info you may provide me!

Not if the DVD was issued with a Mac. If is issued with a Mac it is hardware specific to the Mac. It will either fail to install or if it does install cause you nothing but problems.

Apple never released 10.4.5 on a retail DVD, and the other retail 10.4 DVDs excluding the Mac OS X Server Universal Binary are PowerPC-only. Furthermore, a 2010 Mac is too new to boot any version of 10.4.

I was successful once in installing the Intel version of Tiger into VMWare Fusion v2 at one point.  You could then run this on your 2010 MacBook.

    See this blog

Although the blog discusses Tiger in Fusion v4, the author admitted to me in correspondence that he had installed TIger back in Fusion 2 and that is where I achieved my success after my many failures with Fusion v4.
