Avast antivirus for Mac found multiple instances of the above identified virus. Is this for real, or is it a false positive? If it is real, how do I eliminate it? Avast was useless in that regard.

If it's real, that's Windows malware. However, the problem is that avast! has serious recurring problems with false positives. I wouldn't delete anything based on avast!'s recommendations. What are the files (names and locations) that were identified?
