Tried to update my 3G today, but now I've lost all of my Pictures, Contacts an Texts from over the past year. Help!! Please! How do I recover any of this, pictures are most important

You should have been importing all pics taken with the iphone regularly as you would any digital camera, most especially before any update.
If for some reason you have failed to do this, then they are likely gone. You can try restoring from backup.

No, I have not been able to import recently bc my computer has been broken and I had to save money to get it fixed. So today I tried to upload the pics and update phone and then it said an error occured and now all of my stuff is gone. Fail on my part to keep it updated. But I am truly heartbroken if I can not retrieve the pictures. They are all of my babies 😟
The only option to restore is to factory settings, how else can I restore?
