iPad mini froze and is not responding at all

I was watching a video using one of the video applications on my iPad mini and it froze halfway at one frame of the video.

I've tried pressing and holding the home button and the lock button for numerous times, and there was no response as well.

The screen is forever showing the unresponsive frame of the video.

I've also tried connecting the iPad mini to the desktop using the USB cable to no avail.

To sum it all, it does not respond to anything that I do or any button that I press.

Any advice on what I should do right now? Feel really helpless here.
