I purchased Homeland Season 1 on iTunes in January.  Since then I have updated my Apple TV software (today) and now it no longer appears in my "Purchased" TV shows on the apple TV.  I can see the purchase history on my iTunes account on my Mac but cannot download any of the episodes and get an error message saying that i have not purchased them.  I have talked to 3 people at Applecare who could not really help me.  I rebooted the AppleTV as they suggested that did not work.  I contacted iTunes support via email who basically blew me off.  Any suggestions?

Here is their email:

Hello XXXX,

Charles here from iTunes Store Support. I understand that your are missing content that your have previous purchased. I can certainly appreciate that you would like to resolve this situation as quickly as possible and I will be happy to assist you today.

I am happy to say that you can download many of your previous iTunes Store purchases through iTunes in the Cloud. You may be able to download this particular purchase using this feature. You will need the latest version of iTunes. Installing the latest version of iTunes will not affect your library or any items in your account. It’s available on the Apple website:

Tyler, to learn how to download past purchases, visit this article:

Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Tyler, please note that the Apple TV associated with your account is a 2nd generation model. This model does not have an internal hard drive and therefore must stream content.

If you don't see what you want to download in the list, it may have been removed or modified since you purchased it and is no longer available. The iTunes Store is not responsible for the loss of purchases. We encourage customers to regularly back up their libraries to an external hard disk. If you lose your purchases, you can restore the items from your backups. This article explains how to back up your library:

iTunes: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

Tyler, I hope that this will resolve the issue with your missing purchase. If you continue to have any trouble with this, or if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to let me know. Have a great day and thank you for being a part of the iTunes community.
