I'm trying to sync my iPhone to my new Mac. On iTunes what's wrong if everything next to "Devices" is shaded?

You can only sync to one comuter at a time.
When you sync to the new computer, everything will be deleted and replaced with content from the new computer. Make sure you have copied everything from the old computer to the new one first.
