How to backup my icloud data

Hello

I'm using icloud for all my contacts, notes, calendar, photos, etc.

The problem is that my 3 year old daugther, took my iPhone and delete all notes and as everything is automatic they also delete from all my devices.

So my question is: Can I recover them? I try some forums but nodoby really give a proper answer. All resume to see in other device or restore your backup in iphone, what I already did, but as notes are not part of the backup as they ar ein the icloud.

Apple long time ago create the trash in the Mac's, but I beleive it was forgoten for icloud...

As it looks like I can not recover my notes, is it possible to backup this icloud data?

regards

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1.1

I'm not really sure whether notes are backed up or not.

At one time it was thought none of the iCloud sync service data (contacts, calendars etc) are not backed up, however a while back some reports suggested they might be, but were being overwritten after being restored, by iCloud syncing. At that time I suggested a solution that might help to recover contacts (see below) and one for calendars if this were the case.

It now appears that contacts do back up since others have reported my suggestion has enabled them to recover lost contacts, there is also some evidence to suggest the same might be true for calendars, but I have no information about notes.

You might try adapting the following suggestion for contacts and let us know how it goes. I can re-write it for notes later for you if you aren't sure what to change, but I need to do something else right now.

The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.

  1. Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
  2. Start the restore from iCloud back up.
  3. Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
  4. As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
  5. Wait for the time out confirmation.
  6. Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
  7. Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
  8. Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.comon a computer.
  9. Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).

May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now.

OK, I've changed the suggestion quite a bit since it seems notes don't offer the merge option when syncing is turned on or off.

Please remember I'm not able to test this myself and these procedures are based on what I think might happen when you take each step.

Recovering your notes is quite time consuming, you may wish not to save all your notes to save some time, if they are not of importance.

  6. Open the 'Notes' app, and open your first note (assuming your deleted notes have now been restored).
  7. Select the share option at the foot of the screen (rectangle with arrow) and choose mail.
  8. Send the email to yourself (If they won't send, save them to draft)
  9. Repeat steps 7 & 8, until you have copied all the notes you wish to save to email.
  10. Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
  11. Navigate to settings > iCloud and make sure 'Notes' syncing is enabled.
  12. Open the 'Notes' app, check that iCloud notes have reverted to how they were before starting the restore.
  13. Open the 'Mail' app and open the first email you sent yourself and copy the text you want in the note.
  14. Open the 'Notes' app and create a new note in the iCloud, paste the text you copied.
  15. Go to iCloud.comon a computer and check that the note has synced to iCloud.
  16. Repeat steps 12, 13 & 14 until you have recovered all your notes.
