If I downloaded the latest version for the iphone and lost all my contacts, is there a way to get them back?
I'm afraid I lost them all forever, b/c I answered a question incorrectly in the set-up of the software.

Do you have a backup of your device either in iCloud or iTunes?
Not sure... last night, I downloaded all of my pics, but I'm not sure if the contacts were downloaded, too. Since I don't download the info from my phone often, I'm not very familiar how it all works... and where to find all the info, if it's there!
If you don't sync with iTunes or iCloud then it might be you have lost your contacts unless you have an Exchange email account set up on your device because it also syncs contacts. Gmail supports Exchange but you will need to see if you set it up that way.
Check youe Settings > Mail/Contacts/Calendars > Accounts. If any of the listed accounts says it's synching Contacts, you're ok. If not...
