Computer not recognizing wireless keyboard or wireless mouse

My IMac is not recognizing the wireless keyboard or wireless mouse, which does not allow any access to the computer to check anything. I bought a new wireless keyboard and wireless mouse and the computer is still not recognizing either. I have no way to access anything on the computer. What can I do?

Have you got a wired mouse and keyboard you can use just to get the Mac booted, so that you can then get to Bluetooth prefs to try to figure out the problem. Any brand should do - if you haven't got them perhaps you can borrow them as you shouldn't need them for long.
