Missing Sound and Music Library and Photo Library

A student of mine came across this issue. She installed a clean 10.7 FCPX on her Snow Leopard system. Her Sound Library is empty...not even an option for looking in her itunes library. Her photo library is also empty. I've tried adding her folders to fcp via drag and drop, in an effort to get it to "reindex" the files to no avail. The search bar in both is empty so it isn't searching for " " and coming up with nothing. The sound files are exactly where they need to be under the apple folder in the library. What is going on?! I've seen this question posted before with no answers. Anyone know of one? I've attached the frightening photos.

Nope. Already did that. As I said, the files are where they need to be. Even if I hadn't downloaded those extras for her, her iTunes library should at least be there. And her iPhoto library as well... Unless you are suggesting clicking on that link will reindex both of those libraries...

that was not what I was suggesting... But come come to think of it... who know what would happen ? Perhaps worth a try.

Perhaps you could try to repair the disk permissions.

Also perhaps try to delete any cache in

Users/Account-In-Question/Library/Caches

Then delete the FCPx preferences from her user folder...

After that "Reboot WITH shift button held" THEN log in. After that do a normal reboot and log in and check

Download and install 10.6.8 combo updater here http://support.apple.com/downloads/#os%2010.6.8. Others have found this to solve this problem.

Just went through and tried the standard fixes like disk permissions and safe mode and cache files to no avail. I also tried to install the extra files from the internal link, and like I thought it also didn't work.

You may need to update iTunes and iPhoto, if the versions of these are relatively old...

I also checked this outl. iTunes and iPhoto should update naturally on their own via software update, right? Either way, all updates have been run...including forcing the rerun of the combo update as per the suggestion above. I'm noticing two similar problems unanswered in a link above. Still no solution that I can find.

One last thought. Do you have iLife installed? I remember from some time ago that this problem was solved by one person by reinstalling iLife. There is a file in that installation that displays iphoto and itunes items in iDVD and iMovie. Do these show up for you in iMovie? Sorry I can't br more specific but it was a ways back.

Hi... Again...

Could you try to goto System Preferences and in Accounts, create a NEW ADMIN account.

After creation, Log Out and Log In to the new account...

Launch iTunes, iPhoto, Photo Booth once...

Then boot FCPx and see if there is a change

Another good suggestion, but no success. The new account has the same problem. I am having her check her iMovie library to see if the problem exists there....and then if she has iLife I'll have her reinstall that...

Ok, found out that her imovie sound and photo libraries are also empty....leading me to believe a reinstall of FCP may not be helpful. I don't think she has the ilife install disk, I think she might be running the ones that were initially installed on her system.

Just wondering if a solution to this was found. I have the same problem--no iTunes or iPhoto libraries showing in iMovie 9.0.8 or FCPX 10.0.8.

They were working fine. No I'm trying to think back on recent software updates that I've done. I've updated Aperature and Logic but I don't think I've run either since updating.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I upgraded from 10.8.3 to 10.8.4 the other day and now my iPhoto and iTunes libraries are back. I'm not sure just which component fixed the problem though there was an iMovie update in the upgrade.
