What do the professionals suggest for an operation of about 100 users both Mac and PC clients concerning backup software?. Ive used BakBone NetVault and it was ok so Im leaning towards it but am wondering what success has been had with others. Please forget Retrospect...it's a joke at this point.

For 100 enterprise-grade users on different OSs, and probably physical or virtual servers, the strongest value right now IMO is Zetta online backup service. With that many users you don't want software like Backup Exec or CrashPlan and Carbonite that charge per software licence.
Thanks but that's not possible in our company due to government data regulations. We're a government contractor that does a lot of classified work. Has to be in-house.
I agree, Retrospect has gotten really poor and has never recovered from its once slick operation pre 2004. Are you backing up individual clients or a central repository where data is kept?
Im backing up individual clients to disk and then to tape. So I should have said that earlier too. The software must be able to do that too.
I looked at quite a few backup applications for K-12 networks last spring and I don't recall seeing anything with that functionality. Have you tried the Experts-Exchange website? I think 12.95 still buys you a one month subscription, and you have access to a wide range experienced technical people from all sorts of networks. When I have used it I often get multiple answers to questions that I post within minutes. I think you might find some options and quick answers there.

Lucky me they were having a 30 day trial to the site so I signed up and didn't get any response for 12 hours. But I guess what happens is, if no one responds in that amount of time they start emailing their "experts" to get on the case. 13th hour I had like 5 responses. Some good areas to explore. I appreciate the suggestion. It mightve solved my issue!
