How can I change owner identity?

I have a PowerPC iMac in perfect working order which I want to donate to a charity, but as I don't know where this will wind up, I first want to erase all trace of the owner's name and replace is with something generic, like "user".

I have not been able to erase everything, although I have reinstalled the system software, overwriting the hard drive.

Any wisdom, anyone? If so thanks in advance.

Wether or not you erase everything depends on what installation options you picked.

here is what I suggest before installing again.

boot up from your installation dvd/cd.

click on utilities. then click on disk utility

What I do is go into disk utility ( from the dvd ), and repartition the hd. Set to two partions, then change back to one partition.
