Seagate 1 TB Hard Drive Replacement Program.

What should I do before I bring my my 21.5 inch IMac into the Apple store for replacement? I am using Time Machine with a 2 TB Seagate external drive. Can I restore all with Time Machine after Apple replaces the drive and installs the operating sytem? Will they restore version 10.8.2?

Thank you,

Kent

Apart from that Time Machine backup, I recommend you to make a clone of your hard disk with Carbon Copy Cloner, SuperDuper or just using Disk Utility's Restore feature onto a different external disk or on a different partition of that external drive. This will simplify the restore process and there's less risk of getting a damaged system after restoring your data. Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant may fail.

If you need help to create a second partition on the external disk, see > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html

I got Carbon Copy Clone and backed up my IMac to a bootable partition on my external drive. I went to system preferences, start up and booted from the external drive. Everything seemed OK as I launched applications to verify. I then booted back to my internal drive. After Apple replaces my hard drive how do I transfer the backup volume to my new drive?

Thanks for the help.
